Latest addition to the aquatic “family”.
Posted: April 2nd, 2006 | Author: grey_fox | Filed under: Oldies - post of yester-year! | 2 Comments »I’ve decided to give the two brown discuses I have currently in my tank its own brothers & sisters to school around with. I bought a total of 5 pigeon’s blood and red melon strains at a steal. Although they’re not from championship parents, their body shapes are nice and look healthy enough for my liking.
Once home, I proceeded to float the bag for about 2 hours to acclimatize the tank’s temperature and the temperature of the bag. I proceeded to pour them into a large bucket and for the next 45 minutes, introduced water from my tank by using the “drip” method. This certainly helped to lessen the stress when transferring them from the bucket to their new home.
Currently the two earlier inhabitants are starting to show their prowess by bullying all the seven new members. Chasing, nipping and the likes. Anyways, as with all members of the cichild family, what is life without a bit of squabbling yeah?
Here are the new inhabitants, couldn’t take all the five together as they were hiding in the forest of vallisneria (natans). Hope you’ll like the pictures and if anyone can I.D the strain, please leave a comment, will definitely appreciate it.

Probably still getting use to its surroundings.

Managed to get this quickshot before he/she went hiding in the forest again.

The two “kings” and the few hiding in the forest of vallisneria.

Another red mellon discus.

Managed to locate the strain from Google and Simplydiscus.com, its the Mellon strain.
